An overview of current market conditions will be presented with special emphasis on supply and demand dynamics along with a report on Madagascar’s flowering season to date.  The question of the intermediate term will be discussed with attention being given to current market interventionism in Madagascar and its impact on the rest of the vanilla producing world.  Finally, commentary on sustainable purchasing policies such as the Living Income Reference Price model will be discussed in the context of what market conditions would support its implementation.
